Richard is a writer, performer and educator. He is also a voice, motion and facial capture performer for video games, most notably as the Guardian, Cayde-6 and Lord Saladin in Bungie’s Destiny. He is the founder and co-artistic director of the highly-acclaimed Azeotrope, a Seattle-based theatre company. He’s appeared at the Guthrie Theatre, A Contemporary Theatre, Intiman, Seattle Repertory Theatre, Seattle Shakespeare Company, Book-It Repertory Theatre, Northwest Asian American Theatre, SIS Productions, Village Theatre, and Seattle Children’s Theatre.
He is the recipient of the 2010 and 2013 Seattle Times Footlight Award, 2012 Gypsy Rose Lee Award, and twice nominated for Seattle’s Gregory Award for Outstanding Lead Actor. Richard’s plays have been seen and heard on the stages of the Northwest Asian American Theatre, Theatre Creatures, the University of Washington, and through Insatiable with SIS Productions.
Richard has been an instructor in acting for over a decade in Seattle communities, Seattle Public Schools, Seattle Parks and Recreation, Prima Vera Arts Center, and is an adjunct faculty member at the University of Washington’s School of Drama. He holds an MFA from the University of Washington’s Professional Actor Training Program, is a graduate of the prestigious Guthrie Experience for Actors in Training at the Guthrie Theatre in Minneapolis, and has a Bachelor of Science degree in Molecular, Cellular, Developmental Biology.
